Rainer Schmidt reports on his work, pointing to the global needs and local reaches of landscape architecture in the projects of RSLA GmbH Landscape Architects and Urban Planners. These projects show complex, innovative answers to regionally and locally very specific conditions, tracing history and telling the story of place in a new way.

Rainer Schmidt has served as Professor for Landscape Architecture at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Berlin for 20 years, guest professor at Beijing University in 2005, and Farrand Professor at University of California, Berkeley in 2007. Rainer has been working as a landscape architect in Germany since 1980, and started his firm Rainer Schmidt Landscape Architects (RSLA) in 1991. As a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects as both Town Planner and Landscape Architect, he brings a multi-disciplinary perspective to his practice of landscape architecture grounded in solid urban planning principles. Since 2005, Rainer Schmidt has been vice president of the German society of garden architecture and landscape culture (DGGL).
